PARIS (Reuters) – French cyclist Romain Bardet will end his road career in June 2025 after the Critérium du Dauphiné, his team dsm-firmenich PostNL announced on Friday, which extended his contract for an additional year.

“The Dauphiné will be my last road event as it is my favorite race on the calendar,” declared the 33-year-old cyclist. “It’s very mountainous and close to where I live. These are the roads I often use for training so there couldn’t be a better place to finish my road career.”

Romain Bardet will therefore participate in his last Tour de France during the next edition which will leave Florence (Italy) on June 29. He finished on the podium of the Grande Boucle twice: 2nd in 2016 and 3rd in 2017.

For his last season, the Auvergne will be at the start of the Tour of Italy with the objective of a stage victory to become the eleventh Tricolor to win a stage in the three grand tours (Tour de France, Giro and Vuelta) before devoting himself to gravel where he should compete in the Worlds in Nice at the end of the year.
