The “defensive” Tuchel receives praise from the Bayern boss

Thomas Tuchel is escalating, the criticism of the Bayern coach is huge because of the dispute with Lothar Matthäus and Dietmar Hamann. Just not from his club. On the contrary, President Herbert Hainer praises the coach. This jumping to the side comes too late for Thomas Hitzelsperger.
President Herbert Hainer considers Bayern coach Thomas Tuchel’s reaction to the dispute with ex-national players Lothar Matthäus and Dietmar Hamann to be appropriate and understandable. “I think it’s good that Thomas has now put up a stop sign. I like that he is so defensive,” said Hainer at MagentaSport. “He has enough pressure, like all of us at Bayern.”
Tuchel has been in a clinch with Sky analysts Lothar Matthäus and Dietmar Hamann for weeks. The dispute escalated on the sidelines of the classic last Saturday in Dortmund (4-0), when Tuchel appeared petulant and sarcastic in several interviews.
“He has enough pressure like all of us at Bayern,” said Hainer and added, referring to Matthäus and Hamann: “Everyone can express their opinion and criticize. Sometimes you had the impression that everything was in ruins for us and “We’re playing against relegation.” He emphasized that the opposite was the case: “We haven’t lost a game yet and have won every game in the Champions League. Yes, we were eliminated from the cup. Not good, but that can happen.”
On Sunday evening, Thomas Hitzlsperger expressed understanding for Tuchel’s cynical reaction to the criticism. “It built up over a week or two,” explained the former national player on the BR program “Blickpunkt Sport”. The 41-year-old was surprised by Tuchel’s superiors’ long verbal reticence, he said without knowing about Hainer’s previously unknown reaction. “In the past, a Hoeneß or a Rummenigge would have cleared something like that. That hasn’t happened now. And I find it irritating that Tuchel now has to decide for himself: Do I defend myself now? Or where is the support from the club?” noted Hitzlsperger .
He believes that the aftermath of the turbulent transfer summer at FC Bayern could continue to play a role. Several targeted deals did not materialize. “He would have needed two more players. Now the staffing level is so thin that he reacts like that and the club may not have helped him before,” the former midfielder pointed out. Hitzlsperger added: “He may not feel the support that he needs right now. If he is attacked, he needs people who have his back. If he doesn’t feel that, he has to defend himself.”
