Cyrille Reverdy, simple multi-medal winemaker

Located in Verdigny, in the heart of the Sancerre vineyards, the Daniel Reverdy et Fils estate is celebrating its twenty years of existence this year. Twenty vintages regularly rewarded. Quickly obtained, its first medals contributed to its construction, its foundation and its marketing. “Before creating the estate with my father in 2001, our production was sold in grape juice to a merchant. But, when I settled in, my goal was to add value to our bottled wine. We did it gradually, as our recognition progressed ”, specifies Cyrille Reverdy.

The winemaker, who is 44 years old today and just over nine hectares of vines, has started to present his wine at the Concours Général Agricole: “It is the greatest guarantee of quality and the best known. In 2003, I obtained the greatest distinction of this competition, the gold medal. Thanks to her, I found my American importer, and everything started ”, says the Sancerre winegrower, who is not the type to rest on his laurels. Cautious, it takes fifteen years to bottle all of its production.

Now, its 80,000 annual bottles are mainly exported (70%), especially to England and the United States. He continues to present his vintages at various competitions and his medals allow him to retain his private customers, attracted by the reasonable prices that he maintains. In 2020, it won a gold medal at the Mondial du sauvignon, a grape variety which constitutes the bulk of its production.

This year, he was awarded a gold medal at the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles. “My clients always think that after such an honor I will increase my prices, but my intention is to keep prices accessible. My sancerre is 9 euros. What interests me is that my clients come back. If I still do three or four shows in the year, it is precisely to maintain our relationship ”, says Cyrille Reverdy, who keeps his feet on the ground.
