The government has indicated that this exceptional bonus was distributed this Monday, February 28 to retirees receiving less than 2,000 euros net per month. Since December, adding in particular students, private sector employees and public employees, more than 37 million French people have benefited from it.

It is a small consolation prize for the 12 million retirees receiving a pension of less than 2,000 euros net per month, that is to say the vast majority of the approximately 17 million retirees in France. They were to receive this Monday, February 28 “the inflation compensation” promised by the government. This exceptional aid of 100 euros was announced last October by Prime Minister Jean Castex in order to compensate for the soaring prices, in particular of energy and fuel.
“The inflation compensation was paid today directly by the pension funds by means of an automatic transfer, identifiable under the heading ‘inflation compensation’. It will be visible from this day on the bank account of the beneficiaries “, indicated the cabinet of Laurent Pietraszewski, the Secretary of State in charge of pensions.
Purchasing power, number one concern
This tax-exempt individual bonus was already paid in December to scholarship students, private sector employees and the self-employed, while public sector employees received it in January. Farmers, invalids, unemployed and recipients of social minima are also concerned.
Since the first payments at the end of 2021, the inflation allowance has thus been paid to nearly 37 million people residing in France whose income from activities or replacement is less than 2,000 euros net per month or who receive allowances and social Security benefits.
Against a background of soaring inflation, the question of purchasing power crystallizes all the concerns of the French. It has become the main theme of the electoral campaign. The conflict in Ukraine and the economic war that has opened up between Europe and Russia is not enough to reassure them for the next few months.
