That’s probably what the Aldi online shop thought when formulating the offer text for the portable CD player Dabman PBB 2 from Imperial (69.99 euros in the online shop), which can also receive DAB+ and play MP3s. However, the term “boom box” used by the discounter goes far beyond carrying handles and the use of C baby cells. Water and dust resistance would be a must for a device that you carry everywhere.

The Anker Soundcore 2 Bluetooth box for just under 30 euros at Amazon is much cheaper, boom box and at least waterproof with IPX7. If you can do without the radio and CDs, this is a top offer for you.

Our assessment: Even if Aldi suggests in the product description that you can take this CD player with radio reception with you anywhere, the linked operating instructions (link to PDF) contain exactly one sentence for intended use: “Only operate the device indoors.” And the information for safe operation then states that the interior should be as dry as possible. So much for “both indoors and outdoors”.

All we can say about the sound is: We don’t know. Aldi does not provide any information about the sound, except that the device has two speakers.
