Dacia Spring Extreme: more power and an adventurous look

You were disappointed by the sad and ghostly Paris Motor Show: see you at the Brussels Motor Show 2023! For this 100th edition, the organizers wanted to hit hard and will try to make it the next benchmark European show in the years to come. Indeed, ALL the manufacturers are present (except Aiways, Ferrari and Volvo), and unlike the Paris show, the entire Stellantis group made the trip. Same strategy for the Renault group, which arrives in force and takes the opportunity to unveil a new Dacia Spring.

This city car, which stands out as the second best-selling electric car in France last year, just behind the Peugeot e-208 (19,222 copies against 18,326 copies) is adorned with a new name Spring Extreme. This new finish, which covers the Spring range, will draw on the spirit of outdoor vehicles to seduce.

On the outside, the roof rails, the mirror caps, the wheel centres, the Dacia logo on the boot lid and the underside of the light units incorporate copper brown elements. The doors also feature topographic pattern stripping and door sill guards. Pattern found on door sills and rubber floor mats. Obviously, no one is fooled and will go on the track with their Spring, but the aesthetic effort is there.

Inside, the same copper brown elements of the body take place on the front door panels, the surround of the air vents and the contour of the navigation unit. In addition, the seats are adorned with topstitching in the same color and an embossed Dacia Link emblem.

The most important, however, is at the level of the CMF-A platform of this city car, since the Spring Extreme now accommodates a new electric motor of 65 hp (48 kW). Available only with this finish, this new engine, associated with a new specific reduction gear (multiplying the torque transmitted to the wheels), brings “more accelerations and pick-ups“, according to the manufacturer.

On the other hand, the capacity of the battery always remains 27.4 useful kWh. The announced autonomy is 220 km in the WLTP Mixed cycle and even 305 km in the WLTP City cycle. Available to order from January 17, the Dacia Spring Extreme replaces the Expression finish (so far chosen by more than eight private customers out of 10) and is displayed at a price of €22,300. The basic Essential version, equipped with the 45 hp engine, is still in the catalog at a price of €20,800. We will be sure to test this new version as soon as possible.
