“Dad stays at home”: Lucas Digne is ironic about his non-selection for the World Cup

This Wednesday, November 9, Didier Deschamps unveiled the list of players who will participate in the FIFA World Cup in Qatar. A list in which Lucas Digne does not appear. But instead of moping, the Aston Villa defender took the news with a smile by posting an adorable video of his children on social media.

The announcement that all football fans have been waiting for has dropped. This Wednesday, November 9, Didier Deschamps unveiled the names of players who will fly to Qatar to try to win a third title of world champion. Kylian Mbappé, Antoine Griezmann, Karim Benzema or even Raphaël Varane are well on the trip. In contrast, some regulars of the France team are missing. This is particularly the case of Lucas Worthy. The defender with 46 selections, contender for the position of left side, will indeed attend the competition from his sofa.

Despite everything, it seems that the player did not take the news too badly, as evidenced by a video posted on Instagram a few minutes after Didier Deschamps’ announcement. On this one, you can see her children running around the house and chanting “Daddy stay with us” . In the background, we can also hear Lucas Digne’s wife, Tizirithrow them “And where are we going? On holiday !”. The whole little family will therefore be able to take advantage of the club break to have a little good time, while keeping an eye on the World Cup and supporting their teammates from a distance.

Lucas and Tiziri Digne, a united couple

Lucas Digne and his girlfriend Tiziri met when they were in high school. A few years later, the couple decided to move up a gear by getting married on December 27, 2014, at the age of 21. A union that sealed their love before the birth of their two children. In April 2019, Tiziri Digne indeed gave birth to their first boy named isaho. Two years later, the lovers welcomed a little girl named Inhaya. The family now lives in England where the player has been flourishing since 2018, even if his efforts will not have been enough to catch the eye of the coach enough.

Didier Deschamps summons a 26th player

However, Lucas Digne could have been called at the last moment. Indeed, during his announcement, Didier Deschamps summoned 25 players. But the coach had indicated that he had until Monday 7 p.m. to give his final list. DD therefore seemed to have an idea in mind. And this Monday, November 14, he therefore announced a final name, that of Marcus Thuram, the son of 98 world champion Lilian Thuram. Author of a flamboyant start to the season with Mönchengladbach (13 goals, 4 assists in all competitions), the player will give an extra cartridge to Didier Deschamps in attack in order to make the difference. However, he had not been called to the Blues since the last Euro, where France had failed in the quarter-finals, without a single goal from the French striker.
