Very discreet since the release of the series “Dahmer”, actor Evan Peters looks back on his difficult preparation to interpret the “cannibal of Milwaukee”.
In the guise of the “Cannibal of Milwaukee”, Evan Peters delivers a precision interpretation that has seized more than one. However, since the release of the series on Netflix, the actor has remained very discreet, limiting his speeches. On the occasion of a screening, alongside Ryan Murphy, Niecy Nash and Richard Jenkins, he returned for one of the first times to his perilous preparation.
After having hesitated a lot before accepting the role, the American star explains that she had been psychologically and physically prepared for four months. To stay in character, Evan Peters wore weights around his arms and in his shoes to mimic the gait of the real Jeffrey Dahmer. He even went so far as to wear the killer’s personal effects, such as his jeans and glasses.
“I wanted all these details to become second nature to me during filming.says the actor. I watched a lot of videos of him and worked with a coach to change my voice. He spoke in a very distinct way. So I recorded a 45 minute audio cassette which helped me a lot. I listened to her every day to perfect my voice, but above all to get into her state of mind.”

Niecy Nash, who plays neighbor Glenda Cleveland, remembers approaching the actor to greet him at the start of filming. She explains that she kept her distance when she noticed that he was already in character. “I wanted to respect that and let it be. I prayed a lot for him, really, because it’s a very heavy role. When you stay close to the role at this point, your soul degrades at some point. And I saw him get tired.“
Recently, creator Ryan Murphy spoke about some controversies related to the series. He revealed in particular that 20 of the relatives of the victims were contacted before the shooting, but that none of them had responded to his requests.
