Daimler: conclusive trial for biofuel

(CercleFinance.com) – As part of its efforts to further reduce its CO2 emissions, the Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 team used biofuels in 16 of its trucks in the last three races of the European season .

‘The trial has been designed to understand the level of carbon saving and positive impact that can be achieved by using biofuels, as well as sourcing challenges across Europe, to help develop our strategy aimed at maximizing the use of sustainable fuels for European races in 2023, the team said.

At the time of the balance sheet, the manufacturer indicates that the use of HVO 100 biofuel has saved 44,091 kg of CO2 and reduced freight emissions by 89%.

Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil Fuel (HVO 100) is a 100% renewable, fossil-free product derived from vegetable oils, waste oils and fats.

The technical regulations of F1 are also changing: from the 2026 season, F1 cars will have to use 100% sustainable fuel.
