Daimler: eCitaro adopts Toyota’s fuel cell

(CercleFinance.com) – Toyota Motor Europe (TME) announces that it will supply its fuel cell module TFCM (Toyota Fuel Cell Module) to Daimler Buses – a subsidiary of Daimler Truck AG – in order to equip the eCitaro, a new bus urban Mercedes-Benz.

A second-generation flat module, the TFCM produces 60kW of power and is easily integrated into the roof of the bus, alongside the battery and hydrogen tanks.

This technology increases the range of buses in urban areas to approximately 400 km for the rigid bus and 350 km for the articulated version.

‘We are delighted to work with Daimler Buses and are pleased to see that sales of our modules continue to grow in Europe,’ commented Matt Harrison, President and CEO of Toyota Motor Europe. ‘Toyota is absolutely committed to achieving carbon neutrality and sees hydrogen as one of the cornerstones of the carbon-free society of tomorrow.’
