Daimler: F1 invests in sustainable aviation fuel

Daimler announces that its Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 team becomes the first sports team in the world to invest in sustainable aviation fuel, in order to further reduce its CO2 emissions.

‘Sustainability is at the heart of our operations. As a Formula 1 team racing across multiple continents, we have worked tirelessly to understand the environmental impact we have and the role we can play in driving change,” the team says.

Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) is renewable or waste-derived aviation fuel, an emerging technology recognized by the International Civil Aviation Organization as playing a major role in reducing future aviation emissions international.

“With aviation accounting for more than a quarter of our entire projected carbon footprint, our multi-million dollar investment in SAF will significantly improve our overall environmental impact,” the firm concludes.
