Daisy Coleman died in August at the age of 23. Now her mother Melinda is also dead. Like her daughter, she is said to have committed suicide.
After the suicide of US musician Daisy Coleman (1997-2020) in August of this year, her mother Melinda Coleman has also died at the age of 58. She was found dead on Sunday evening (December 6th) and is said to have taken her own life like her daughter. The SafeBAE organization founded by Daisy Coleman reports on its Instagram page.
"Melinda was a gifted veterinarian, devoted mother and wife, and talented bodybuilder who loved and believed in her children," read the post that ends with "Our hearts are forever with Logan and Charlie." According to the US magazine "People", these are the two sons that Melinda Coleman leaves behind.
Melinda Coleman confirmed her daughter's death on Facebook in August 2020. "She was my best friend and great daughter," she publicly mourned and added, "My little girl is gone." The American also had to cope with the deaths of her husband in 2009 and her son in 2018.
Daisy Coleman was best known as one of the two protagonists from the biographical Netflix documentary "Audrie & Daisy" (2016), which was about her experiences with sexual assault in her teenage years. For this, both received the Cinema Eye Honor Award in 2017. In the same year Coleman founded the organization for the prevention of sexual assault SafeBAE (Safe Before Anyone Else).
