Daisy Jones & The Six: Is there a season 2? – The showrunners of the series provide new information

The drama series “Daisy Jones & The Six” has been available on Amazon Prime Video since the beginning of this month. This is about the circumstances of the dissolution of the 70s band of the same name. In the finale of the 10-part miniseries, the main characters experience some changes.

Billy (“Peaky Blinders” star Sam Claflin) has left his addiction behind and is a father, while Daisy (“The Terminal List” actress Riley Keough) has just survived a terrifying overdose. Karen (Suki Waterhouse) and Graham (Will Harrison) are in love and face a surprise pregnancy.

Series co-creators Will Graham and Scott Neustadter recently gave an in-depth interview to Variety. In it, they discuss why they made what changes to Jenkins Reid’s book, which character they would have liked to see more of, and whether fans of the series can look forward to a sequel.

The series finale in particular showed a special change compared to the novel, because unlike in the book, Billy not only decides to call Daisy, but shows up on her doorstep. After years of radio silence between the two, this is the first contact.

In the interview, Graham says that while he’s not a fan of happy endings, he likes a good, hopeful ending. This provides Billy’s visit to Daisy’s for fans and leaves room for the story to continue.

Graham and Neustadter also tried to convey the complexity of the band in the finale as well as possible. The fact that The Six break up is not only due to Billy and Daisy’s rivalry, but to all members. Camila (Camila Morrone), Karen and Graham were also involved. The musicians were simply aware that their lives were moving in different directions.

In the interview, the co-showrunners also comment on the strong friendships between the women on the series. So Camila accompanies Karen to her abortion, although she cannot fully understand her decision.

And while Camila and Billy end up together, Camila and Daisy’s bond is still special. It’s thanks to writer Taylor Jenkins Reid that the series has such great female roles to offer.

A female role that is somewhat neglected in the book is that of Simone. Therefore, Graham and Neustadter wanted to put their character a little more in the foreground, which the author was more than happy with.

For Will Graham in particular, who is queer himself, it was important to give oppressed members of society a bigger stage. The two producers could even imagine that Simone gets her own series, they are so enthusiastic about this character.

Because the novel “Daisy Jones & The Six” has such a large fan base, the expectations for the series were high. Since the series has some changes, Graham and Neustadter were asked in the interview if they were nervous about the reaction of the super fans.

They then replied that when making the series, they took the opportunity to show multiple perspectives of the characters. Since the novel was only written from one point of view, the full history of the band could never be learned. The series now gives fans the chance to do so.

Although the series was created as a miniseries, Graham and Neustadter would be happy if viewers were interested in a second season. However, it would be up to the author whether a sequel would be an option for her and whether she could provide further material for a second season. Therefore, it cannot be said at this point whether “Daisy Jones & The Six” will actually be continued.
