Damartex closes the 2021/2022 financial year with revenue of €719.0 million, down -5.9% at actual rates compared to the previous financial year (-7.1% at constant exchange rates ), impacted by a difficult economic environment. After a stable first half compared to the previous year, the Group achieved a turnover of €317.2 million in the second half, suffering from a slowdown in sales of -12.3% at real rates (- 13.2% at constant exchange rates) compared to the same period of the previous financial year.
Damartex continues to strengthen its customer base, which had been expanded with 1.4 million new customers in the first half, welcoming 0.8 million in the second half, including 0.3 million in the fourth quarter.
In the fourth quarter, activity experienced a significant drop which particularly affected the brands of the “Fashion” and “Home & Lifestyle” divisions. Despite a fine performance by the “Healthcare” business, driven in particular by the dynamism of recent acquisitions, the quarter ended
- €144.2 million, down by -13.5% (-14.1% at constant exchange rates).
The division’s turnover “Fashion” amounted to €535.5 million for the 2021/2022 financial year, down -3.5% at actual exchange rates. Damart remains solid in the face of the economic situation but shows a slight drop of -2.4% at real rates over the financial year marked by the slowdown in the traditional “Mail Order” channel, while Afibel recorded a decline of -8.9 % at real rates. Benefiting from its positioning in the affordable luxury segment, Xandres recorded record performances in Belgium and the Netherlands, representing an increase of +20.4% at real rates.
The pole “Home & Lifestyle” was particularly impacted by the deterioration of the macroeconomic environment, and posted revenue of €147.6 million, down -16.9% at real rates over the year (-18.6% at constant rates ). The sales of the 3 brands suffered from a very unfavorable base effect on e-commerce, which had benefited from the health crisis.
Finally, the division’s turnover “Healthcare”, which includes the Sedagyl, Medical Santé, Santéol and MSanté brands, totaled €35.9 million, a significant increase of +14.3% at actual rates and +13.4% at constant rates. This good momentum of the Health division continues to strengthen with recent acquisitions, perfectly in line with the TTA 2.0 transformation plan.
Santéol, a home healthcare provider specializing in respiratory assistance, continued to grow at +18.4% at actual rates over the 2021/22 financial year, while Sédagyl, a home care marketplace, recorded a decline of -9 .2% at real rates, negatively impacted by the Covid base effect.
Despite a deteriorated macroeconomic and geopolitical environment, Damartex continues to deploy its strategic plan Transform to Accelerate 2.0 to support its development while coping with persistent supply tensions.
The Group is exercising caution by remaining extremely agile with regard to the rapid evolution of the economic situation, and anticipates, as mentioned during the publication of the third quarter turnover, a negative impact on the annual results for the 2021 financial year. /2022.
