A perfidious scam is intended to trap Rossmann customers. Fraudsters have put a supposed lottery online. How to recognize this, read here.
Get a voucher quickly: This is what an alleged competition on Facebook promises (archived). All you have to do is select a digit on a sharepic showing envelopes and add the digit as a comment. “Surprise from Rossmann, the lucky one gets a voucher worth 250-500 euros,” says the text of the post. Is this actually a serious sweepstakes by the drugstore company?
Important for customers:
The alleged competition is dubious, and the Rossmann company is not behind it either.
Alleged Rossmann vouchers: How to recognize the fake campaign
The official Facebook pages of companies can often be recognized by the verification badge, i.e. a small white check mark on a blue background. This mark means that the company’s page has been checked by Facebook and recognized as genuine. This is not the case for the site where the post appeared. Instead, it is clearly visible that the drugstore company’s logo was used unprofessionally with a screenshot on the Sharepic and is not actually on the covers.
The alleged Rossmann Facebook page with the alleged competition was created in June 2020, as can be read in the “Page transparency” section on the left. As of January 2022, the only contribution visible is the alleged competition. This also shows that this is not a serious site.
Caution: If you take part, you risk losing data
The Facebook page does not reveal who is behind the alleged competition. According to the law, commercially used pages must have an imprint – with information such as the postal address and contact options. There is no imprint on the Facebook page from which the competition originated. The Rossmann logo is therefore misused.
Consumer advocates and the police warn against passing on your own e-mail address or other personal data in dubious sweepstakes offers, also because this data can be sold.
