There has been great joy about spontaneous hot summer days recently. In some parts In Germany the thermometer reached an incredible 35 degrees and we had a whole week of sunshine in a row. Hard to believe for many, but late summer has once again shown itself at its best.

Clouds are gathering in the sky…

The week starts with sunshine almost everywhere, but clouds are expected to gather in the northwest this evening (Monday, September 11th), indicating an impending change in the weather. The first showers over Germany are expected near the North Sea. Already on Tuesday it could become unsettled in several parts. Rain showers, thunderstorms and squalls are expected first in the northwest and later in the center. Weather.de even reports an increased Danger of severe weather due to heavy rain, hail and squalls. To the southwest and in the center there may be showers, and locally even strong thunderstorms. In the Thunderstorms can also occur in the southeast. It should remain beautiful in the far south. In other parts it can be changeable and still partly sunny. According to the German Weather Service it should also be muggy. Only in the northwest will it be cooler.

Will it get really uncomfortable from Wednesday?

There are expected to be strong thunderstorms and there is a risk of severe weather. And the thermometer will clearly drop to 18-25 degrees. It remains warmest in the Upper Rhine and the East for the time being. It is expected to be wet, gray and humid in the northwest in the coming days.

The end of the mild summer?

The good news: it’s getting warmer for the weekend. Yay! Fortunately, the bad rainy weather continues according to the weather forecast. So we will get warm summer temperatures again. So the high Patricia will stay over Germany for a while longer. “The temperatures are expected to rise a little again on Friday and Saturday!”, says Markus Bösel from the DWD. The maximum values on the weekend can be 26 to 32 degrees.

Special Prospects: Heat and Hurricane?

Only that sounds a bit worrying announced Storm Margot, which, according to meteorologists, is moving towards Europe from the mid-Atlantic. We’re talking about a hurricane. What, by the way quite unusual is. So similar to the heat wave at the end of summer, as well as a hurricane that is heading towards our continent, are atypical. The hurricane could have a strong influence on the change in weather, but fortunately there is no reason for us in Germany to panic because it will probably lose intensity on its way to us. Still, it would be good to prepare for rain and storms. An ex-hurricane can also throw very warm air masses into Germany on its front side, thereby giving us warmer temperatures at the beginning of autumn.
