On August 3, 2022, Daniel Aminati had to cope with a heavy loss: his sister Deborah died. Now the moderator talks about the dramatic circumstances of death.

Daniel Aminati’s sister, 48, died a few days ago in West Africa at the age of 46. The moderator made her death public on August 8, 2022 on her Instagram account. “My middle sister Deborah’s heart stopped beating on the night of August 3, 2022. She died in West Africa at just 46 years old [sic]”, Aminati wrote about two recordings from happy days and emphasized to his deceased sister: “I very much hope that your wings are now gently enveloping you and that you have now found the peace that you have always wished for on earth. Debbie…your real sunny disposition – your bright light will always shine on me thinking of you.”

Daniel Aminati is in “absolute emotional chaos”

In an interview with “Bild”, the TV face now talks about the past difficult days, in which joy and sorrow are so close together. The reason: Daniel Aminati and his wife Patrice Eva, 28, are expecting their first child together soon, it could be any day. “I’m in an absolute emotional chaos right now,” said Aminati.

The 48-year-old also revealed to the newspaper that he only visited his sister in Africa in March of this year. No one could have guessed that it would be their last meeting. Even Deborah’s sudden death was not noticeable in advance: “I called her the night before – surprisingly she sounded good and after a long time clear again.” Even so, her heart stopped beating. After a friend found her lifeless in the guest room one night and then took her to the hospital, she was pronounced dead. “My sister died after decades of excessive alcohol consumption. Her body and soul were totally drained and tired,” says Daniel Aminati.

“Deborah tried to numb herself with the alcohol”

The news of his sister’s death “shocked him,” said Daniel Aminati to “Bild”, “but because of her extreme lifestyle, I knew that this could happen at some point.” All his efforts to help her were not to last long. “I told her that her past doesn’t have to determine her future,” explains Aminati, who, like Deborah, suffered from her abusive father and also struggled with drug problems and depression due to his difficult childhood.

But he managed to escape this spiral. Not his sister. “Deborah tried to numb herself with alcohol to forget. But you can’t really experience healing unless you really go deep into yourself. Instead, unfortunately, she had more alcohol and things only got worse . Eventually hard drugs came along as well.”

funeral in Germany

Now Deborah’s body is to be transferred to Germany, where she is to be laid to rest. “Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to hold my sister Deborah. Right now I’m just terribly sad. But I know that the opposite will follow soon,” says Daniel Aminati hopefully when he thinks of his child, yes will soon see the light of day.
