Daniel Craig: "I hope he has a golf course"

"Sir Sean Connery will be remembered as Bond and so much more. He defined an entire era and a style. The wit and charm he conjured up on screen were overwhelming. He made his contribution to the success of the modern blockbuster. " Connery will continue to influence actors and filmmakers alike. "My thoughts are with his family and loved ones. Wherever he is now, I hope there is a golf course."

The entire James Bond world mourns

In addition to Daniel Craig, James Bond producers Barbara Broccoli (60), daughter of the original Bond producer Albert R. Broccoli (1909-1996), and Michael G. Wilson (78) honored the great icon of the film series: " We are devastated. Sean Connery was and will always be remembered as the original James Bond, whose indelible entry into cinema history began when he uttered those unforgettable words – "My name is Bond … James Bond." He did revolutionized the world with his daring and witty portrayal of the sexy and charismatic secret agent. "He is undoubtedly instrumental in the success of the series and we will be forever grateful to him."

As a completely unknown actor, Sean Connery landed the role in the first film adaptation of Ian Fleming's novels called "James Bond Chasing Dr. No" in 1962 – the rest is history. The then 32-year-old became a star overnight and was to portray the double-zero agent in six other films. Daniel Craig will hit the big screen one last time as 007. James Bond's 25th appearance has now been postponed several times due to the corona pandemic – now to the beginning of 2021.
