Bijou Phillips (43) wants to end her marriage to Danny Masterson (47). The actor was sentenced to 30 years in prison for rape at the beginning of September. The 43-year-old filed for divorce in a court in Santa Barbara, California, on Monday (September 18), according to People magazine. This is said to emerge from documents available to “People”. The actress cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for their separation. The couple, who have a nine-year-old daughter, were married for almost 12 years.

According to the documents, Phillips is reportedly demanding, among other things, spousal support and custody of their child, according to People. “Ms. Phillips has decided to file for divorce from her husband during this unfortunate time. Her priority remains her daughter,” People quoted a statement from Phillips’ attorney as saying.

Actor appeals

After Danny Masterson, known, among other things, from the series “The Wild Seventies”, was found guilty of two counts of rape a few months ago, the sentence was announced at the beginning of September. The 47-year-old was sentenced to 30 years in prison, among other things the US magazine “Entertainment Weekly” reportse. The actor’s family is said to have been present in the courtroom. His wife Bijou Phillips was also present, as were his acting siblings Alanna Masterson (35) and Chris Masterson (43).

At the end of May this year, a twelve-person jury found it proven that Danny Masterson raped two women in his home in the Hollywood Hills in 2003. According to US media reports, Masterson’s legal team plans to appeal the verdict. The actor had denied the allegations and said all sexual acts were consensual.
