PARIS, March 6 (Reuters) – Danone announced on Sunday the suspension of all its investment projects in Russia, a country where the French food group has long been well established.
“We have taken the decision to suspend all investment projects in Russia. For the time being, we are maintaining our activity of production and distribution of fresh dairy products and infant nutrition, in order to meet the essential food needs of civilian populations”, declares the general secretary of the group, Laurent Sacchi.
“We are monitoring the evolution of the situation in real time, and will, of course, apply the decisions of the French authorities with whom we remain closely coordinated”, he adds.
The group, which must present its new strategic plan next Tuesday, also specifies that one of its two factories in Ukraine has closed its doors while activity has just resumed in the second. (Jean-Michel Belot)
