Daredevil Born Again (Disney+): it’s official, Jon Bernthal will be back as Punisher!

As she prepares to begin filming this month in New York, the future series Daredevil: Born Again will benefit from the presence of a central character from Matt Murdock’s universe, the Punisher, played once again by Jon Bernthal. The series is scheduled for the Disney+ streaming platform in 2024.

A soft reboot expected

It was a hoped-for return and today confirmed: Jon Bernthal (The Walking Dead, Baby Driver, The wolf of Wall Street, Fury) will reprise his role as Frank Castle. The actor had already successfully interpreted this antihero in the second season of the series Daredevil from 2016, then in its spin-off The Punisher from 2017 to 2019. His interpretation, both rough and inhabited, had been praised by the fans.

But Jon Bernthal isn’t the only actor from the original series to make a comeback. Daredevil: Born Again was announced as a soft reboot of the Netflix program, and if we can expect a change of tone and some narrative adjustments, the future show will therefore keep its original cast. After appearances in Spider-Man: No Way Home And she hulkCharlie Cox will again put on the costume of the blind superhero, and the enormous (by talent) Vincent d’Onofrio that of the Caïd.

As a reminder, between 2015 and 2019, several Marvel programs were co-produced with Netflix and broadcast on the streaming platform. These series (Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, iron fist, The Punisher And The Defenders) eventually all joined Disney+ in June 2022.

Adapted from Frank Miller’s narrative arc published in 1986, from whom it borrows its name, the series Daredevil: Born Again will come out of the usual format of Marvel productions and will offer no less than 18 episodes. It is announced for spring 2024 on the streaming platform with big ears.
