The British talent show “Pop Idol” made him a star in the early 2000s. Now the singer Darius Campbell Danesh is dead.
The music world mourns the loss of Darius Campbell Danesh (1980-2022): The former “Pop Idol” contestant was found dead in his home in Rochester, Minnesota, on August 11. His family does according to The Sun confirmed in a statement. The cause of death is unknown. The police have therefore initiated further investigations, so far there have been no suspicious circumstances.
The relatives ask for privacy and to refrain from speculation about the circumstances of death. Campbell Danesh was 41 years old.
Darius Campbell Danesh was born in 1980 in Glasgow, Scotland. He rose to fame in 2001 after competing in the UK’s ‘Popstars’ talent competition. The following year he made it to the finals of the first season of the TV talent show “Pop Idol” – the British equivalent of “Deutschland sucht den Superstar” – and finished third.
Released two studio albums
In 2002, his debut single “Colourblind” was released, which made it to number one in the UK singles chart. In the same year his first album “Dive In” was released, in 2004 he released his second record “Live Twice”. In 2010 he appeared on the show “Popstar to Operastar”.
In 2011, the native of Scotland married the actress Natasha Henstridge (48). The two split in 2018.
