Dark: This is how the Netflix series is heading towards its end

The first German Netflix series "Dark" ends with the third season. For fans, that doesn't mean that everything is over now.

The deadline is June 27, 2020 – both in the real world and in Winden, the location of the first German Netflix hit "Dark" (since 2017). The start of the third season was clear a year ago, at least if you followed the second season of the time travel trilogy closely. Trilogy? Yes, because the third season was planned from the beginning as the end. But since in the second season of the saga around Jonas Kahnwald (Louis Hofmann, 23, "Nurejew – The White Crow") and Co. there are actually more puzzles for the audience than have been solved, the real question is rather: Can the merge succeed? the sheer number of storylines or not?

Time travel – a topic on very thin ice

When it comes to time travel, authors in film and literature have always been on thin ice. You have to convince the viewers / readers quickly, because with too abstruse theses you quickly lose the audience. But the conviction was undoubtedly there when the "Dark" started in 2017, even if it was unusual at first to see German actors in a US-style story about a small town in the time loop. The audience had carried all of this up to the end of the second season, until the local nuclear power plant led to the much-cited apocalypse in the series.

Until then, the audience had learned the reasons for this and, thanks to Jonas Kahnwald's time travel, what it looked like in winds after the catastrophe. But the cliffhanger at the end of season two has shaken the entire "dark" world. Martha (Lisa Vicari, 23, "Hell"), who has just died, stands in front of the stunned Jonas with a changed haircut and answers the question from which time she comes: "The question is not from which time, but from which world . " Zack, that was sitting.

The end in sight

It opened the door to speculation – but the time travel theme was not invented today. Anyone who has even watched the series halfway carefully knows that two groups are fighting against each other. But how exactly everything is connected will only be presented bit by bit in season three. But since there are more storylines, fans should also know the details of the previous seasons. Newcomers to season three don't have a chance to understand anything.

Ultimately, however, the end is continuously worked towards. The real key characters and moments only become apparent to the audience over time, but on the way to the end the last episodes also have to endure a few lengths. The explanation of the "dark" world should really have been received by everyone after the lengthy explanations of a main character. It will be shown how satisfied the fans will be with the end, but given the complicated topic, it can be expected that not all of them can be satisfied. However, the central questions are answered.

Repeat pre-programmed

Given the confusion of the story, however, it is worth repeating the whole series – this time from a completely different point of view, because the "Dark" creators Jantje Friese (43, "The Last Silence") and Baran bo Odar (42, "Who Am I – No system is safe ") consciously worked towards the end now presented. And no matter what character you are most likely to hold – the opportunity to look at "Dark" again from the very beginning is one of the biggest advantages of the presented ending. And then maybe a few more fans are finally convinced that the first German Netflix adventure has been successfully completed.
