The Dashlane password manager is now able to spot fraudulent sites that are trying to run a phishing scam. Once on a suspicious page, the application will alert its user of the risks incurred when they try to enter their username and password.
Phishing is undoubtedly one of the most widespread hacking techniques on the web and, in fact, the one that wreaks the most havoc among the general public. It is indeed easy for anyone who is not aware of the risk of falling for a site imitated to perfection, thus handing over their identifiers to hackers without resistance and without even realizing it.
This is therefore a major challenge for password managers who, very often, enter these identifiers automatically without the user having to interact, thus increasing the risk of phishing. Dashlane, one of the most popular tools in the industry, has finally decided to tackle the problem. In a recent update, the application is equipped with an alert which is activated when the Internet user is on a fraudulent site.

In such a situation, Dahslane initially refuses to automatically enter the user’s identifiers on the site. If the latter nevertheless attempts to connect, the application will then send them an alert to warn them of the risks involved. It is therefore impossible to be fooled and see your password disappear into thin air.
Currently, the feature is only available on the web version of Dashlane. The tool claims to already send more than 7,000 alerts per day. Note, however, that you will need to subscribe to one of the application’s subscription plans to benefit from it. Dashlane prides itself on “take the pressure off you from phishing risks by working in the background to help secure your login credentials.”
