Corona has changed all of our lives – we noticed. Our daily work has changed, our relationships have been put to the test, we had to find new ways to get to know someone, and in most of the heads, aka in our thinking, one thing or the other has happened. We can also prepare for Covid-related changes with a view to the near future. The experts of the dating app "Bumble" have revealed to us which trends in the area of dating / getting to know / finding new loved ones will occupy us this year.
5 Dating Trends to Prepare for in 2021
1. New Dawn Daters
Long-term singles take note: In Germany, 15 percent of Bumble users are so-called "New Dawn Daters" – people who noticed during the pandemic that their relationship was not as crisis-proof as expected and felt compelled to do so to end. As new singles, they tend to be inexperienced when it comes to getting to know each other and using dating apps, so don't be frustrated or impatient if the virtual flirtation with them is a bit sluggish at first …
2. Hardballing
In 2020, singles in particular had one thing above all: time for themselves and to reflect. Quite a few people felt loneliness and the urgent desire for a partnership in this context. These people are now eagerly and efficiently looking for their great love – and in doing so they bring us the dating trend "hardballing", which, loosely translated, means "no fooling around". Hardball players know what they want (something binding, long-term) and do not waste time with banter or superficial, short flirting.
3. Astrolove
In uncertain times, we seek support in the spiritual – or in scientific truths like astrology. At Bumble, more than 500,000 Germans added the Astro-Sticker to their profile last year. H. discovered her belief in the art of star interpretation. In 2021, those looking for a partner can be prepared that the question of the zodiac sign and astrological compatibility will be one of the first to be discussed with the new acquaintance. 4. Slow dating
“Slow dating” or “mindful dating” is exactly what it sounds like: people take the time to get to know each other and establish a connection before deciding whether to keep the relationship going, hop into bed with each other or each other want to meet in person. You don't have much choice in view of contact restrictions and closed date locations …
5. The COVID Talk
Before Corona, topics such as hobbies, origin, interests and preferred sex positions were still in the get-to-know phase, but in 2021 COVID-19 will be a key point in conversations and chats with new acquaintances. What is who's attitude towards our politicians' handling of the pandemic? What does the other think of lateral thinkers? What did we learn about ourselves from the crisis? And so on. In the current dating year, the COVID talk will mean that our conversations to get to know each other very quickly become profound, explosive, political, personal and emotional – and we quickly notice what makes our counterpart really tick and how it suits us.
