Kurt Cobain inspired the founding of the Foo Fighters

After the death of Kurt Cobain, Dave Grohl fled to Ireland. It was there that his late friend inspired him to found the Foo Fighters.
After the tragic death of Kurt Cobain (1967-1994) at the age of 27, Dave Grohl (52) fled the USA to Ireland in 1994. He “didn’t know what to do with my life now,” he said on Friday (October 1st) on the “Graham Norton Show”. Once there, however, it was precisely his late Nirvana bandmate who inspired him to found a new rock band: the Foo Fighters (“Everlong”).

“I couldn’t hear any more music because it hurt too much,” said Grohl. He then tried to “flee” and went across the pond to Europe in order to go into himself there. But there came a fateful moment: “I was trying to find out what to do with my life when I picked up someone who was hitchhiking,” said the 52-year-old. The man wore a T-shirt with Kurt Cobain’s portrait on it. “I thought, ‘Even in this far-off place, I can’t escape life'”. Then Grohl “flew home” and “started all over with the Foo Fighters”. “I had to survive and get on with living.”
Dave Grohl has been part of the Grunge lineup since Nirvana was founded in 1987. In 1991 the band became internationally known for the song “Smells Like Teen Spirit” and the album “Nevermind”. After the death of front man Kurt Cobain from a heroin overdose and a headshot, Grohl founded the Foo Fighters. He is still successfully on stage with the band to this day.
In the cover story of the music magazine “Rolling Stone” The former Nirvana drummer and current Foo Fighters singer recently revealed that a song by the follow-up band was inspired by Kurt Cobain’s death: “Walk” from 2011 is the last track on the number one album “Wasting Light” ” appeared. “The song is from the day after Kurt’s death,” explained Grohl. “When I woke up that morning and realized, ‘Oh, shit, he’s not there anymore. But I. I’m allowed to wake up and he isn’t. I’ll make myself a cup of coffee. And he can’t. I turn on the radio. And he doesn’t. ‘ That was a big challenge for me, “the US artist remembers that morning on April 6, 1994.
