Star violinist David Garrett has released a song with Till Lindemann. For Garrett one of the "best experiences" of his career.

Star violinist David Garrett (40) and Rammstein singer Till Lindemann (57) have released a single single including a video. The cover "Alle Tage Ist Kein Sonntag" is a song from the 20s. "I have to say, that was really one of the best experiences I've ever had with an artist from any industry," enthuses Garrett in an interview with the news agency spot on news and also gives insights into his "ALIVE" tour, the starts in January 2022.

How did the collaboration with the Rammstein front man come about?

David Garrett: Till and I have been close friends for years and have very similar tastes in music. Of course that connects and is a great basis for a joint musical project.

How did you experience Till Lindemann?

Garrett: Highly professional, highly motivated and incredibly creative. That was already clear to me after the preliminary talks about the video. In addition, he's just a great person. Even after the incredibly long video shoot – it went from 6 a.m. to 2 a.m. – after this 18, 19 hour long working day, he was still super focused, professional and friendly. That made a huge impression on me. You stand by and think to yourself that such a person has justifiably been in business for so long and so successfully. I have to say, that was really one of the nicest experiences I have ever had with an artist from whatever industry.

There is still a long time to go before your tour starts in January 2022. How difficult is this long abstinence from the stage for you?

Garrett: I can't really get into the 2022 tour right now. Next year – like this year – there will certainly be far fewer concerts than normal. But when the concert halls open again, I could also imagine playing a concert here and there beforehand. The last few months have been very exciting and entertaining for me, despite the current situation, because I finished and promoted my new album "ALIVE". So there was never boredom. And, to be honest, I am now looking forward to a few quiet months in which I can prepare a lot.

What are your plans until then?

Garrett: The best project I have in the coming months is of course to record the new classical album with Deutsche Grammophon. In addition, the concerts that we had to postpone from this year to 2021 are also coming up for me, which we, among other things, will play in Italy, Russia, Austria and Romania. The focus is of course on the conceptual development and preparation of the big "ALIVE" tour in January 2022 and at the same time we are already working on a couple of other very exciting projects. But I can't reveal anything about that yet.

The Corona year is slowly coming to an end, how did you experience these special months yourself?

Garrett: On the one hand, I enjoyed spending time with my family and friends, a calm that I haven't been able to experience for decades. That was something very beautiful. On the other hand, you look with concern at what is going on around you. Of course it is very important to me that concerts can take place again as soon as possible. Not only because that's my job, but also because I miss my fans, the great live atmosphere, making music with my band. But health comes first, of course, and if we are allowed to play concerts again, we can celebrate it twice, because it also means that we will then have overcome the pandemic.
