The US actor and comedian David Lander died in Los Angeles. He was 73 years old.

David Lander (1947-2020), who was known to most viewers in the USA from the sitcom "Laverne & Shirley", died on Friday of complications from multiple sclerosis. His wife confirmed this to the US celebrity portal "TMZ". He was 73 years old.

The comedian, actor and voice actor celebrated his big break in America in the 1970s with the role of Andrew "Squiggy" Squiggman in the sitcom "Laverne & Shirley" (1976-1983). In the course of his career, Lander was also seen in films and series such as Steven Spielberg's (73) "1941", "Twin Peaks" or "Scary Movie" (2000). He was also active as a voice actor in series such as "The Simpsons", "Ariel, the Mermaid" and "Spongebob SquarePants".

The actor was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis 37 years ago and has lived with the autoimmune disease ever since. He died with his family in a hospital in Los Angeles.
