The death of Matthew Perry has deeply touched his “Friends” colleagues. David Schwimmer says goodbye to “Matty” in an Instagram post.

Around two weeks after Matthew Perry’s (1969-2023) death, “Friends” star David Schwimmer (57) has now spoken out and told his colleague and friend paid tribute in a touching Instagram post. In it, Schwimmer affectionately calls Perry “Matty” and thanks him for “ten incredible years of laughter and creativity.”

Schwimmer will never forget Perry’s “impeccable comedic timing” and how he delivered his jokes. “You were able to take a single line of dialogue and bend it to your will, resulting in something so completely original and unexpectedly funny that it’s still astounding,” the actor writes.

Matthew Perry made “Friends” his family

“And you had heart,” he continues. “You were generous with it and shared it with us so we could raise a family out of six strangers.” The photo published comes from season five of “Friends” and, according to Schwimmer, is one of his favorite moments with Perry. Now the recording makes him “smile and mourn at the same time.” He imagines “you looking around somewhere up there, in the same white suit, with your hands in your pockets.”

Matthew Perry was found lifeless in the pool of his home in Los Angeles on October 28th at the age of 54; the cause of death has not yet been determined. A few days after his death, his “Friends” colleagues David Schwimmer, Jennifer Aniston (54), Courteney Cox (59), Matt LeBlanc (56) and Lisa Kudrow (60) spoke out in a joint statement. “We are all deeply devastated by the loss of Matthew,” said the actresses. “We were more than just cast mates. We are a family.” They announced that they would speak again at a later date.
