Days of Play 2023: promotions that are really worth it on PS Plus games and subscriptions

[Deal du jour] If like many players, you wait for promotions to buy your games, then the Days of Play is an event not to be missed. The event organized by Sony offers many discounts on games, as well as on PS Plus subscriptions.

What are the Days of Play offers?

Days of Play 2023 begins this Friday, June 2 at 12:01 a.m. through Monday, June 12 at 11:59 p.m. (local time) in each region. You can purchase, renew or extend a PlayStation Plus subscription at a reduced price. Each formula benefits from a 25% reduction.

All 12-month subscriptions will therefore be offered with a 25% discount. Current PlayStation Plus Essential and Extra subscribers can get a 25% discount on 1, 3 or 12 month subscriptions, if they upgrade to a higher subscription.

In addition to subscriptions, you can also take advantage of discounts on many games or digital expansions on the PlayStation Store. You can fund your PSN account with a PSN gift card, for an amount between 10 euros and 100 euros. Once your account is credited, you can buy a PS Plus subscription or digital games, directly on your console.

What is PS Plus?

PlayStation Plus is a Sony subscription that allows you to play online on PS4 and PS5, and gives you access to discounts or free games. In order to compete with the Xbox Game Pass, Sony has merged its services to offer three distinct formulas: the PlayStation Plus Essential, the PlayStation Plus Extra and the PlayStation Plus Premium. Basically, the more the subscription costs you, the more features you have access to.

The PlayStation Plus Essential is the basic package that allows you to play online. It also gives you a few free games a month, PlayStation Store discounts, and 100GB of cloud storage.

The PlayStation Plus Extra offers the same features as the Essentials plan. You will also have access to a library of over 400 PS4 and PS5 games.

As for PlayStation Plus Premium, in addition to the advantages of the two previous formulas, players benefit from PS1, PS2, PS3, PS4 and PSP titles, which can be streamed.

Days of Play 2023: Which discounted games are worth it?

The Days of Play are also an opportunity for Sony to offer games in promotions, on PS4 and PS5. Note that some games that benefit from a discount are also available for free, if you have a PS Plus Extra or Premium subscription.

Horizon Forbidden West

Usually priced at 69.99 euros, Horizon Forbidden West is offered for less than 40 euros during the Days of Play. The game is above all an incredible technical achievement. The sequel toHorizon Zero Dawn, offers graphics worthy of the artistic direction inspired by the Guerilla Games teams. The management of light and particles, as well as the modeling of fauna and flora, is astounding. The game is an invitation to contemplation, but to the story after all quite classic. A recent DLC, however, expands the main plot, which is accompanied by many side quests of varying interest. Fortunately, the writing work manages to make the whole thing enjoyable to follow. The game is played with real pleasure, and, apart from the somewhat repetitive fights, Horizon Forbidden West is a very entertaining game and a great showcase for Sony’s console.

stray

stray is a game from the French studio BlueTwelve Studio. Normally sold for 29.99 euros, it is offered at a price of 22.49 euros during the Days of Play. In stray, you play as a cute cat doing cute cat stuff. The story follows the journey of this ball of fur after a fall in a very cyberpunk city, populated by machines. With the help of an equally cute little robot companion, you’ll have to roam the city to get back to the surface. The gameplay is a mixture of infiltration and exploration, punctuated by a few combat phases. The cat is agile and, joystick in hand, it’s a real pleasure to direct it and make it do cat stuff. Although the physics engine is wonky, the environments are quite nice and the immersion is there.

God of War Ragnarok

God of War Ragnarok is the direct sequel to god of war released in 2018. Usually sold for 69.99 euros, it is currently offered at a price of 49.69 euros. Several years after the events of the previous game, Kratos has drawn the wrath of Asgard. Accompanied by his son Atreus, he will have to travel to the nine kingdoms. Meanwhile, Asgardian forces prepare for a battle to end the world. The plot of God of War Ragnarok is well constructed and, although a little long, it has no downtime. The work on the characters is neat and the story gives the game another dimension, more intimate. The game from Santa Monica Studio offers an art direction to die for, supported by sumptuous graphics. The Nordic folklore is perfectly restored, and the nervous action distills Dantesque moments, along the 30 hours that the main story lasts.

Unpacking

Unpacking is offered at a price of 11.99 euros instead of 19.99 euros. Among the relaxing games, Unpacking is a model of its kind. The game from Witch Beam studios is a simulation of unboxing boxes. In the shoes of a person who is moving in, you will have to take out your belongings and place them, if possible with logic and care, in your new interior. The game is between a simplistic puzzle game without any constraints and a Feng Shui course. Thanks to Unpacking, you will have the opportunity to participate in the best moments of a move, without the back pain that goes with it. The title is all in pixel art and the rendering is superb. Its small lifespan of barely 4 hours avoids boredom and repetition. As you progress, a story appears in the watermark, to make the title much more than just a storage game.
