Singer Kelly Clarkson wins a Daytime Emmy with the first season of her TV talk show. Her thanks go to husband Brandon Blackstock.
The Daytime Emmy Awards were presented in the USA. The award ceremony selects the best TV entertainment shows that are broadcast during the day. Among the winners is Kelly Clarkson (38, "Because of You"). The singer took the award as an outstanding presenter for the first season of her "The Kelly Clarkson Show" as an opportunity to thank her husband and "best friend" Brandon Blackstock (43): "Thank you for believing in me and convinced me to do the 'Kelly Clarkson Show' " she writes on Twitter.
In early June, Clarkson is said to have filed for divorce from Blackstock. The couple married in 2013 and have two children together.
The Queen of the Daytime Emmys
Talk show queen Ellen DeGeneres (62) also did not go away empty-handed. Since 2004 she has won one of the coveted prizes almost every year. Her "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" was recognized as an outstanding talk show in 2020. She thanked her team on Twitter. In her acceptance speech in the virtual ceremony, she announced that she wanted to use her show "more as a platform for change and to support the voices of non-whites and to educate my audience."
