At its launch, the DDR5 promised delirious frequencies. Little by little, we are getting closer.

During the Computex 2023 in Taipei, the G.SKILL brand showed all its knowledge in terms of RAM, especially high-speed DDR5.

A single 16 GB DDR5-11240 module

Specialized in very high performance memory modules, for the most demanding users, G.SKILL alternates between announcements of new products and smashing of previous records.

This time we are in the second scenario and there will therefore be no question of immediately finding the Trident Z5 RGB in DDR5-11240 at our favorite retailers. In its catalog, G.SKILL has “only” DDR5 in 7200 and 8200, already enough to hurt the wallet.

However, during Computex, the brand pushed a 16 GB strip of Trident Z5 RGB much further than its official recommendations. If you don’t believe it, take a look at the screenshots, but there was talk of DDR5-11240 at G.SKILL.

Liquid nitrogen cooling

To do this, the company used a platform based on the ASUS ROG Maximus Z790 Apex motherboard. On it was installed an Intel Core i9 13900KS processor, which was clocked at 5.025 GHz.

You can see it in the photos, it was obviously on the cooling side that the thing was more complex. In order to keep everyone cool, G.SKILL used liquid nitrogen. In fact, if it was indeed a question of running the single 16 GB strip of Trident Z5 RGB at more than 5600 MHz, we cannot speak of a product intended for Mr. Everybody.

However, it is difficult not to be impressed by the values ​​obtained in what was an overlocking competition won by Seby9123 on behalf of G.SKILL. And to think that in five years, these frequencies will be the common lot of any smartphone. How are we exaggerating?
