A Bahn AG regional train crashed on the route between Garmisch-Partenkirchen and Munich. The rear part of the regional train derailed near Burgrain. Several wagons fell over, as reported by the Tagesschau. 60 people are being treated for injuries, 16 of them with serious injuries. According to the police, three people were fatally injured.

The regional train drove from Garmisch towards Munich. The train that crashed was full.

“Train accident near Garmisch-Partenkirchen

Unfortunately, we have to confirm that there was an accident involving a regional train at around 12:30 p.m. on the route between Garmisch-Partenkirchen and Munich.

According to initial findings, there are several injured and dead.

DB expresses its deepest condolences to the families of the victims of the accident.

DB has set up a special hotline on: 0800 3 111 111.

Emergency services and DB employees are at the scene of the accident.

No statement can be made about the causes of the accident at this time.

Due to the rescue service and police operation on the route, the section between Garmisch-Patenkirchen and Oberau is closed. Trains coming from Munich turn around in Oberau. From the Mittenwald direction, the trains turn in Garmisch-Partenkirchen.”
