Fatal crash on the A3: A semi-trailer truck and a car crashed between Walenstadt SG and Murg (Germany). The driver died in the process. The truck driver (32) was slightly injured.
According to the St. Gallen canton police, the accident occurred in the Quarten tunnel shortly before 2.40 a.m. on Tuesday night. When the crash occurred, traffic on the A3 was on the southern lane towards Sargans on the northern lane towards Zurich in oncoming traffic due to construction work.

According to previous knowledge, the hitherto unidentified car driver is likely to have found himself on the overtaking lane for unknown reasons. There the car hit the oncoming semi-trailer truck head-on. On site, the rescue workers could only determine the death of the driver.
At the time of the report, the A3 motorway between Flums and Murg is closed for an unknown period until the vehicles are recovered. (vof)
