Dead Island 2: A card system replaces the skill tree – Dead Island 2

Players have been waiting for many months Dead Island 2. Victim of several postponements, the title of the studio Dambuster and Deep Silver should arrive this year, and more precisely at the end of April. With its launch fast approaching, communication around Dead Island 2 has been intensifying lately. On this day, we have the right to information about a new gameplay mechanic.

Indeed, journalists at Game Informer recently interviewed the creative director of Dead Island 2, James Worrall, and Khan, occupying the position of “lead narrative designer” within the studio. The latter thus answered eighty-six questions from journalists and mentioned the skills system present on the software.

Thus, unlike the first opus, Dead Island 2 will not, strictly speaking, feature a skill tree for playable characters but rather a system articulated around cards : “ There is a skill deck, which is even better says Khan. James Worrall then explained that players will be able to ” change maps on the fly, however you want, whenever you want “. For example, it will be possible to ” change skills in the air adds Khan. This will certainly allow us to quickly adapt to each situation and enemies facing us. During the interview, the developers also mentioned that Dead Island 2 will feature six playable characters in total.

As a reminder, Dead Island 2 is due to land on April 28, 2023 on PlayStation, Xbox and PC consoles. Several editions, and pre-order bonuses, are planned.
