Dead Island fans can’t wait any longer… The first opus of the license, released in 2011, was a real phenomenon. Its co-op mode and its gameplay based on zigzagging zombies seduced players around the world, so much so that during E3 2014, Dead Island 2 was announced, and a first trailer was unveiled.
Since then, radio silence. Fans of the Techland and Deep Silver license haven’t heard from the long-awaited production for years. Until last August during Gamescom 2022 when a trailer and a release date were finally unveiled: on February 3, 2023 fans of crazy fights against zombies could finally have returned to service. Unfortunately… players will have to be patient because the release date has just been postponed!
“The delay is only twelve short weeks”
After more than eight years of waiting, the teams in charge of the development of Dead Island 2 have announced a delay of only 12 short weeks compared to the date announced during Gamescom this year. It is therefore from April 28, 2023 that the horror adventure under the California sun will begin for players on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One and PC.
In order to keep fans of the license in suspense, the date is set for December 6. in order to discover more information about the future production including an extract of gameplay which promises to be explosive.
What can we expect?
Regarding the gameplay but also the overall plot, we know from the elements revealed during the Gamescom announcement that players will have a choice of 6 characters who will have their own personality and it will of course be possible to customize them in terms of their appearance and their skills. The zombies will not be outdone sinceabout ten types of infected are confirmed and they will all bring gameplay evolution depending on the area where they will be encountered by players.
As for the atmosphere, the second opus will take place in California, in Los Angeles more precisely. Although not much is known about the overall plot, an exploration of the various neighborhoods of the West Coast capital is on the agenda. One thing is certain, we can’t wait to draw our crazy weapons in order to let off steam virtually on zombies, each more angry than the other. The end of this long wait is near!
