Deadpool 3: the director of Logan criticizes the return of Wolverine in this Marvel film

James Mangold, director of Logan and Indiana Jones 5, is not very happy with the return of Wolverine in Deadpool 3.

Currently in full filming, Deadpool 3 is scheduled for May 1, 2024 in theaters. Directed by Shawn Levy, the film brings together Marvel’s trashiest superhero and Wolverine, the clawed and taciturn mutant. Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman reprise their roles and are about to blast the MCU!

For his part, James Mangold, director of the acclaimed Logan in 2017, is back in the cinema with Indiana Jones 5. Interviewed by Variety as part of the promotion for the film, the director brought up the Wolverine case. And the least we can say is that he does not share the enthusiasm of the fans on the return of the mutant with the claws of adamantium.

“There’s a part of me that wants the character to be left alone. But there will always be other Wolverines.”said the filmmaker. “There could be a baby Wolverine and a cartoon Wolverine. They will always try to squeeze the lemon as much as possible.”

There’s a part of me that wants the character to be left alone. But there will always be other Wolverines.

“Anyway, even if Logan was successful and I ended the story of this Wolverine in my own way, there will always be other versions of the character that will feed the mythology. My version is finished”he concluded.

While waiting for Deadpool 3, in theaters May 1, 2024, MCU fans can see The Marvels, Captain Marvel’s sequel, in theaters November 8, 2023.
