Deadpool 3, Wicked, Planet of the Apes, Twisters… all the Super Bowl 2024 trailers


The Super Bowl unveiled its usual batch of blockbuster trailers.

Beyond being the American sporting event of the year, bringing together more than 113 million viewers in the United States, the Super Bowl has become over the years the meeting place for film studios to highlight their big productions of the year.

This 2024 vintage was no exception to the rule, and revealed the trailers – among other things – of the expected Deadpool 3, Twisters, Planet of the Apes: The New Kingdom, The Fall Guy orWicked… Here is a summary of the trailers that should not be missed.

Deadpool & Wolverine

Wade Wilson, aka Deadpool, will have to join forces with Wolverine to face a common enemy, and try to change the course of the MCU.

The popular, irresponsible, crude and violent Deadpool finally arrives in the troubled Marvel Universe. For the occasion, he teams up with Hugh Jackman, back in the Wolverine costume seven years later Logan, for a wildly meta adventure that promises to break the MCU. In theaters July 24, 2024.

Planet of the Apes: The New Kingdom

Several generations after Caesar’s reign, the apes definitively took power. Humans have regressed to the wild and live in seclusion. As a new tyrannical leader gradually builds his empire, a young ape embarks on a perilous journey that will lead him to question everything he knows about the past and make choices that will define the future of apes and humans. .

After a trilogy which was able to revitalize the franchise by digging into the origins of Caesar while depicting the decline of humanity, the universe of The Planet of the Apes returns to the cinema for a sequel in which the balance of power is completely reversed… and where humans are hunted down. In theaters May 8, 2024.

Wicked

Elphaba is a young witch, born with emerald green skin. One day, she meets Glinda, a young blonde and sunny woman, popular and loved by everyone. Everything opposes the two young women and yet, a friendship is created. But a rivalry begins to arise and their relationship takes a hit.

This adaptation of the cult Broadway musical, itself based on the world of the novel The Wizard of Ozwas directed by John Chu (Crazy Rich Asians) and written by the author of the original play Stephen Schwartz. This big production with a star cast (Ariana Grande, Cynthia Erivo, Jeff Goldblum, Michelle Yeoh) is divided into two parts. This first part is expected in cinemas on November 27, 2024, the second in December 2025.

Twisters

Twenty years ago, scientists collected data to prevent the deadly risk of destructive tornadoes, saving thousands of lives in the process. But while science wallows in complacency, nature continues to evolve…and tornadoes become more deadly.

Released in 1996, the first film Twister is still one of the best disaster films. This spiritual sequel directed by Lee Isaac Chung (the sublime Minari) returns with an ecological discourse that is more current than ever, even more impressive scenes and a new cast of sympathetic actors led by Daisy Edgar-Jones (Normal People) and Glenn Powell (Top Gun: Maverick). In theaters July 17, 2024.

The Fall Guy

Colt Seavers, a disillusioned Hollywood stuntman, is propelled into a perilous mission where he must find a missing star, foil a plot and win the love of his life.

More than ten years later DriveRyan Gosling stars as a movie stuntman again in the action comedy The Fall Guy. A film the opposite of that of Nicolas Winding Refn, which promises to be the “roller coaster film” of 2024: second degree, spectacular scenes, freewheeling actors and fun. All this helmed by David Leitch, director of John Wick And Bullet Train. In theaters May 1, 2024.

Despicable Me 4

Seven years after the last film in the franchise, Gru, his family and his famous Minions are back for a new adventure, where they will have to face new adversaries: Maxime Le Mal and his girlfriend Valentina.

Again and again co-directed by Chris Renaud and Patrick Delage, this new film will put Gru face one of the greatest challenges: fatherhood, with the arrival of little Gru Jr. A family cocktail of humor and action that promises yet to bring crowds back into theaters. In theaters July 3, 2024.

Kung Fu Panda 4

Po was chosen to become the spiritual leader of the valley. He must find and train a new dragon warrior, while a fearsome sorceress resummons the old adversaries Po has defeated.

A fourth (and final?) opus of the Kung Fu Panda franchise, which sees Po in turn becoming the master. A new very retrospective film, since it promises to bring us back the emblematic enemies of the saga, and in particular the terrifying Tai Lung. In theaters March 27, 2024.

Monkey Man

Just released from a prison in India, a man finds himself in a cruel world, in which he is no longer able to adapt. He is determined to take revenge on those who took everything from him.

Actor Dev Patel’s first feature film (Lion, The Green Knight, Slumdog Millionaire), Monkey Man promises to be a brutal and hair-raising proposition. The icing on the cake is that the film is produced by Jordan Peele (Get Out, Us, Nope) and the brilliant A24 studio. Only safe values. In theaters April 17, 2024.

Knuckles

This future series mixing animation and live action centers on Knuckles, Sonic’s enemy who became his friend.

With more than 700 million dollars collected worldwide, the films Sonic have enjoyed great success in the cinema, and Paramount intends to extend the franchise with this series, while waiting for a third adventure of the blue hedgehog scheduled to hit theaters at the end of the year. The Knuckles series will be released on April 27 on the Paramount+ streaming platform, available in particular via the Canal+ offer.

Blue & Company

A young girl named Bea has an extraordinary gift: she can see other people’s imaginary friends. These childhood companions, often abandoned when their creators reach adulthood, find themselves lost and sometimes become evil. But she notices that her neighbor shares her unique gift, and together they embark on a great adventure to save these forgotten creatures.

Ryan Reynolds is not just Deadpool in 2024. He also takes care of saving our imaginary friends, in this new film written and directed by John Krasinski (Without a sound). A Pixar-style concept (we think strongly of Monsters and Co.) with a golden vocal cast: Steve Carell, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Emily Blunt, Matt Damon, Sam Rockwell… In theaters May 15, 2024.

Quietly: Day 1

In the loudest city in the world, New York, Sammy navigates the chaos and terror of that fateful day when our world went silent.

This prequel to the films starring Emily Blunt promises to reveal the origins of the alien invasion, and offers a different setting from the first two opuses, as well as a new cast of talents: Lupita Nyong’o (12 Years a slave), Joseph Quinn (Stranger Things), Djimon Hounsou (Guardians of the Galaxy), Alex Wolff (Hereditary)… In the cinema on June 26, 2024.
