Dear Villagers announce today edit a brand new action-platformer called Nocturnal. It’s developed by the Swiss studio Sunnyside Games and it’s coming out this year. Here’s what you need to know about this indie game that looks promising.
The DA “deshir”
After months at sea, Ardeshir finds Nahran, his native island, covered in a mysterious fog. Ardeshir is a wielder of the Eternal Flame and here can use his powers to fight his way through this strange mist. To progress in this platform game, the use of your fire will be constant, whether to push back the fog, ignite elements of the decor, activate mechanisms or even defeat evil creatures.
The software promises to be quite dynamic since it will constantly find ways to repel the mist while progressing quickly. As you progress, you’ll gain new skills by collecting ash and offering it to Phoenix statues. A speedrun mode was also announced which should add new challenges. Those who talk about it best are still the developers, including Gabriel Sonderegger, co-founder of Sunnyside Games:
” With Nocturnal, we wanted to combine the immediacy and timelessness of classic platform adventures with a more modern dynamism. The flames and mist give players a nice balance, oscillating between feelings of weakness and oppression, and fleeting moments of triumph as they engulf their weapons in the fire. We think it adds a unique flow to a classic genre and we can’t wait for everyone to play Nocturnal when it launches this year. »
Among the visible qualities, we note a particularly catchy artistic direction with a fire as pretty as it is hypnotizing. The announcement trailer above is already awe-inspiring.
Nocturnal is scheduled for release this spring 2023 on Xbox One, Xbox Series, PS4, PS5, Switch and PC via Steam.
