Death at 45 of Annie Wersching, the great love of Jack Bauer in 24h Chrono

Actress Annie Wersching has died of cancer aged 45. Known for her role in “24h Chrono”, seen in “Star Trek Picard” or “Marvel’s Runaways”, she also lent her voice to the character of Tess in the game “The Last of Us”.

Known for her role in the series 24 Heures chrono where she was the great love of Jack Bauer, her participation in the series Marvel’s Runaways, Timeless and most recently Star Trek Picard, much appreciated by video game fans The Last of Us in which she lent her voice to the character of Tess, Annie Wersching died this Sunday from cancer diagnosed in the summer of 2020. She was 45 years old.

Born in Saint Louis, Missouri, she began her career in front of the cameras in 2001, in an episode of the series Star Trek: Enterprise. Appeared in dozens of TV series since the beginning of her career, such as The Vampire Diaries, Extant, Harry Bosch or The Rookie, the turning point was with the series 24 hour clock, in which she played FBI agent Renee Walker in seasons 7 and 8 for 37 episodes. Fearsome, she was admired by Bauer who began an affair with her, before being (once again…) devastated by her death.

The death of the actress did not fail to react to her ex-partner on the screen, Kiefer Sutherland. “She was one of the greatest actresses I had the pleasure of working with, and was my friend” he wrote on his Twitter account; “I am heartbroken for her young family. May she be remembered for the beautiful person she was.” Annie Wersching leaves three orphans: Freddy, 12; Ozzie and Archie, 4 years old.

Jon Cassar, director and executive producer of 24h Chrono, also paid tribute. “My heart is broken into more pieces than I can count. Annie entered my world with an open heart and an infectious smile. […] Annie became more than a co-worker, she became a true friend to me, my family, and all the cast and crew members who worked with her. She will be truly missed by them and the fans she always found time to interact with. Annie we will miss you, you left your mark and we are all the better for it”.

Players around the world had also discovered it in the game The Last of Us from Naughty Dog, where she lent her voice to the character of Tess, played by actress Anna Torv in the series broadcast on HBO / Prime Video. What give a little more echo to the destiny of his character, in the game and the series …

The actress had not only lent her voice to the character; she had also been asked for the performance captured on the game, as shown in this behind-the-scenes video of the creation of the title.

“My heart is broken”writes in a tweet Neil Druckmann, the creator of the video game The Last of Us and co-creator of the series. “We have just lost a beautiful artist and human being” he adds, pointing the online kitty set up to help his family.
