A man succumbed to his injuries after being shot during a police check in Sevran on Saturday March 26. He was driving a stolen vehicle.
The incident took place around 12:30 p.m. Agents from the Anti-Crime Squad (BAC) checked the victim, a 33-year-old man from Sevra, suspecting him of being in a stolen van. The police fired when he tried to flee.
Despite his gunshot wound, the man continued his journey for “a few hundred meters” before hitting several parked vehicles, the Bobigny prosecution told France Bleu Paris. He was later taken to hospital in serious condition and succumbed to his injuries in the evening.

The General Inspectorate of the National Police (IGPN) was seized to determine the circumstances of his death. In a press release published yesterday, Stéphane Blanchet, the mayor of Sevran, meanwhile indicated that he had “convened a crisis unit at the town hall”. While awaiting the results of the investigation, he recalled that it was “essential that we keep our calm” despite the emotion aroused by this accident.
A 32-year-old Sevranais, a father, died following a gunshot wound by a police officer.
