Daoud al-Zubeidi, 43, was shot in the abdomen during an Israeli raid on Friday in the Jenin refugee camp, where the army says it moved in to search for suspects after a recent spate of attacks anti-Israeli whose several authors came from the region.

A Palestinian man died on Sunday from wounds sustained in a shootout two days earlier with Israeli forces carrying out operations in the northern occupied West Bank, the Israeli hospital where he was being treated said.

Daoud al-Zubeidi, 43, was shot in the abdomen during an Israeli raid on Friday in the Jenin refugee camp, where the army says it moved in to search for suspects after a recent spate of attacks anti-Israeli whose several authors came from the region. He was rushed to a hospital in Jenin, in critical condition, then transferred to Rambam Hospital in Haifa, northern Israel.

Daoud al-Zubeidi was considered a prominent figure in Jenin

Zubeidi “succumbed to his injuries” on Sunday morning, a Rambam spokesman told AFP. He was the brother of Zakaria al-Zubeidi, a former leader of the armed wing of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas’s Fatah movement, who briefly escaped from an Israeli prison in September 2021. Daoud al-Zubeidi was also considered a prominent figure in Jenin.

At least 12 other Palestinians were injured in Friday’s Israeli operations in and around the city. Noam Raz, an Israeli special forces police officer killed in clashes in Burqin, near Jenin, was buried on Sunday. Palestinian-American Al Jazeera journalist Shireen Abu Akleh was shot in the head near Jenin refugee camp on Wednesday.
