Death of Carlo Bonomi: the voice of Pingu and La Linea has died out

Italian voice actor Carlo Bonomi has died in Milan aged 85. He was the voice of Pingu the penguin but also of La Linea.

Carlo Bonomi was an Italian clown and actor specializing in dubbing and even sound effects. We owed him the inimitable gibberish of the hero of the animated series La Linea, as well as several characters from the cartoon Pingu, produced in stop-motion, and whose “nut nut” of his hero marked an entire generation.

Here he is at work on La Linea:

Bonomi had also lent her voice to the animated films Le Bonheur de Monsieur Rossi (1976) and The Dreams of Monsieur Rossi (1977). They are off in Milan at the age of 85.
