Christophe said goodbye to the French. After weeks of fighting a lung problem, the artist, who was admitted to intensive care for respiratory failure in connection with his emphysema on March 26, 2020, died on April 16, at the age of 74. “Christophe is gone. Despite the unfailing dedication of the healthcare teams, his forces abandoned him ”, said his daughter Lucie and his wife Véronique Bevilacqua (from whom he had long been separated) in a press release sent to AFP. A family member could not have been at his bedside when he breathed his last: it was his son Romain, born from his history with the singer Michèle Torr, and whom he did not never recognized. Besides his two children and these two women, Christophe leaves behind his last companion, Audrey. For years, Christophe had indeed rebuilt his life with Audrey, makeup artist 33 years younger. Today, his widow Véronique Bevilacqua takes up the torch of the singer's heritage. In a rare interview with RTL, the latter announced great news for fans.
Véronique Bevilacqua and her daughter Lucie are planning an auction
Véronique Bevilacqua opened the doors of the singer’s apartment, located in a building on boulevard Montparnasse, in the 14th arrondissement of Paris. An apartment where many objects of Christophe, who also happened to be a great collector, remained. “We were both collectors, of different things even if all the American objects connected us both. You can't find that on a flea market ”explains his wife. It was then that she took advantage of her interview to make a revelation that would appeal to the artist's admirers. “I have my personal collection of jukeboxes, stations, I am armored at home so unfortunately I cannot keep anything. My daughter is the same. So we are going to make an auction ”, she announced. Having a little piece of Christophe at home will now be possible.
