Death of Christophe: this French-speaking star to whom he dared not ask for a duet: Femme Actuelle Le MAG

Christophe was a discreet night owl … to the point of not daring to approach one of his pairs. Thursday April 16, 2020, after having spent long weeks in intensive care, the interpreter of Blue Words died at the age of 74 from a lung disease, as announced by his wife Véronique Bevilacqua, and his daughter Lucie at AFP. Since that day, tributes to the singer have never stopped raining on social networks and on television. Asked about this recent disappearance on BFMTV, his ex-partner Michèle Torr, mother of her first child, portrayed an atypical, sensitive and very discreet man. And she didn't mean so well. Indeed, if Christophe used to invite great artists to his albums, he never dared to call one of them, much too intimidated by his talent …

"I dare not invite him, I'm afraid he will refuse …"

We are in 2017, the singer Christophe is touring all over France for his album The Remains of Chaos. Every evening, after each concert, he isolates himself and refines the few tracks that will make up his future album. The opportunity for the artist to make a few phone calls to invite the most beautiful voices from France (and across the Channel) to come sing with him. It was then that our colleagues from Parisian meet him in his hotel room, at 3 am, after a concert in Lyon. Christophe will list his artistic inspirations, as eclectic as they are, such as the rapper PNL, the actress Laetitia Casta or even Nick Cave and Étienne Daho.

However, there is a Belgian singer he never dared to contact: "I discovered the singer Stromae in a documentary three weeks ago. But I don't dare invite him, I'm afraid he won't … ", he said. Two years later, the album Christophe Etc. is born, without the shadow of a duet with Stromae. For fans of the two artists, it's a missed duo "regrettable" who will see "maybe the day with new technologies".
