The day after Gaspard Ulliel’s death, the man he collided with is “very shocked”. According to the Dauphiné Libéré, a psychological cell has been opened.
The doctors couldn’t do anything to save him. Victim of a serious skiing accident, Gaspard Ulliel died on Wednesday January 19 following a head trauma at the Grenoble University Hospital. On the eve of the tragic disappearance of the 37-year-old actor, the prosecution had decided to open an investigation, entrusted to the CRS Alpes d’Albertville under the authority of the public prosecutor, to determine the circumstances of the tragedy which cost the life of the man who played a larger than life Yves Saint Laurent a few years ago. What we know of the drama for the moment is that Gaspard Ulliel hit another skier at the intersection of two blue slopes in the La Rosière area, in Savoie. The man involved in the fatal accident of the actor was heard by the investigators, as were two witnesses, explained Anne Gaches to the Dauphine Libere.
“According to these first testimonies and the observations made on the spot, the two skiers were moving side by side and collided”, continued the public prosecutor. According to our colleagues, the skier involved, of Lithuanian origin, was wearing a helmet at the time of the violent collision, unlike Gaspard Ulliel. “If Mr. Ulliel had worn a caWhy, would that have saved his life? I absolutely cannot say so,” said Anne Gaches. At the scene of the tragedy, psychological support was put in place. The other man, “very shocked” and emerged unscathed from this collision, was taken care of. “At this time, it is difficult to say whether it was the impact or the fall that led to the death of Mr. Ulliel. This accident is very sad but the circumstances are quite simple, there is no particular complexity“, she added.
Death of Gaspard Ulliel: will an autopsy take place?
For the moment, no responsibility is engaged in this tragic accident, nor “excessive speed”, nor “inappropriate behavior or fault of one of the two skiers”. The open investigation should be dismissed and no autopsy should be carried out on the body of Gaspard Ulliel. In the columns of Release, a witness described the area where the accident occurred “well frequented, but wide and secure, equipped with signs” : “It’s unfortunate, but skiing remains a dangerous activity, this kind of accident can happen, you have to accept it… Proportionally to the number of skiers, it remains very rare nevertheless”. Taken care of unconscious on the track, Gaspard Ulliel was airlifted to Grenoble University Hospital. This is where the actor lost his life.
