French actor Jean-Claude Balard, best known for having lent his voice to the famous Mendoza in the animated series “Les Mystérieuses Cités d’Or”, died at the age of 86.
Jean-Claude Balard, theater and television actor, particularly known for his career in dubbing, died this Friday, May 13 at the age of 86.
Born in 1936, he began on the boards in the 1950s after taking courses at the National Conservatory of Dramatic Art. During his career, he appeared several times on television in the show At the theater tonightand holds secondary roles in series such as Commissaire Moulin or Médecins de nuit.

It is especially in the world of dubbing that he made himself known, notably lending his voice to Mendoza, the intrepid navigator of the Mysterious Cities of Gold, and also participating in other famous animated series of the 80s. thus the evil Professor Chassard in Les Minipouss, as well as Priam and the Black Magician in Ulysses 31. More recently, we could hear him in a few episodes of Clone Wars, in the role of the Father.
