That day, Jean-Louis Trintignant is dead at the age of 91, as revealed byAFP. The actor died at his home in Uzès, a town located in the Gard department, “surrounded by loved ones“, according to information sent by his wife Mariane Hoepfner Trintignant. The latter also added that the actor is dead “peacefully, old age“. As a reminder, Jean-Louis Trintignant had revealed in 2017 to suffer from cancer.
Shortly after the announcement of his disappearance, the late actor received many posthumous tributes in the media, but also on social networks. His ex-wife, Nadine Trintignant, with whom he had 3 children, notably spoke on the antenna of BFM TV. “He was rare, confusing, in a good way. A great actor. He worked all his life with his tape recorder in hand, saying poems. The last 4 years of his life, he upset everyone by reading marvelous poems, and in a marvelous way“, she said. For his part, the director Claude Lelouch confided in a small misadventure he experienced, just after having learned of the death of Jean-Louis Trintignant on the radio.

In an interview given to Parisian Saturday June 18, 2022, the famous filmmaker, who worked several times with the late comedian during his career, said he was arrested by the police. “Right after hearing the news on the radio, I was stopped by the police for speeding. I told them that I had just learned of the death of Jean-Louis, they recognized me and they let me go“, revealed the director. As a reminder, the last film in which Jean-Louis Trintignant shot for the cinema was The Best Years of a Life, precisely directed by Claude Lelouch.
