DISAPPEARANCE – The director died on Tuesday. He marked the history of cinema and left behind him a singular, provocative filmography, as much admired as decried.
Because he was embalmed during his lifetime by the augurs and other cultural necromancers, books, theses, articles in spades have covered his tomb for a long time. There is nothing shocking about this veneration: Jean-Luc Godard is, whether we like it or not, one of the greatest artists of the 20th century.
