Death of Nahel: find out what the police officer behind the fatal shooting would have said to the investigators: Femme Actuelle Le MAG

Investigators are trying to shed light on this dark affair. Tuesday June 27, 2023, after leaving his home early in the morning, Nahel was killed by a policeman in Nanterre after refusing to comply. The video of the intervention quickly made the rounds on social networks and a wave of indignation ensued. Indeed, two clans have begun to emerge, those on the policeman’s side, and those on Nahel’s side. For the latter, the police officer had no reason to shoot because he was not in danger and therefore self-defense cannot be accepted. This is the reason why many clashes have broken out all over France. Investigators are trying to figure out what happened. Our colleagues from Parisian, Wednesday June 5, 2023, had access to the report of the police custody of the 38-year-old policeman which took place only a few hours after the death of Nahel. He reportedly explained that around 8 a.m., just after taking his shift, “ninth consecutive working day”he falls with his colleague on a Mercedes “whose engine was roaring and which was traveling in the bus lane”.

The policeman appealed against his pre-trial detention

The two police officers therefore wish to carry out a check but Nahel’s car would have left “at full speed, up to 80 or 100 km/h”. It was only a few minutes later that they managed to intercept the Mercedes, caught in a traffic jam near Nelson-Mandela Square. It is at this precise moment that Florian M., the policeman who shot the young man, runs towards Nahel and takes out his weapon. He would have explained to the IGPN that he is putting himself in a position “fiery shot” to avoid shooting anywhere if he has to open fire. The police officer would then have explained that he hit the windshield several times to “attract the driver’s attention”, in vain. He then allegedly saw his colleague put his upper body in the vehicle “to try to control the driver or to try to press the stop button on the ignition”. He would then have felt “cornered”, stuck between the car and a low wall and would have justified his shooting because Nahel, according to him, was trying to move his car forward. He would therefore have been afraid that he would take his colleague on board in his flight. He reportedly denied telling her “you’re going to get shot in the head”. His colleague was only able to provide very few elements concerning the need for his comrade to be fired because “[son] attention was focused on Nahel”. The police officer appealed his detention and his hearing will be held on Thursday July 6, 2023 in Versailles. For now, he remains presumed of the facts with which he is accused.
